...and her words thunder across the land

Wait ’till the sun shines, Nellie!

I’m really going to miss Little Princess when she moves away. We just spent a most enjoyable few hours in each other’s company, walking into town and back.

We first returned a book about Glen Roy that the husband of a retired professor had lent us last year before we went on our Scottish adventure, and she in turn loaned us a CD of celtic harp music. Then Little Princess and I went to the pharmacy, thence the bank, followed by lunch at Pizzaville where she and I shared an order of vegetarian pad thai, which was delicious. Afterwards she bought me tea and a biscuit at the bakery/tea shop before we hit the dusty trail homewards.

In and of itself, it doesn’t sound like a very interesting outing, but we kept running into people we knew, including people we hadn’t seen in a very long time. At the bakery as we were nibbling our date-filled oatmeal cookies and sipping our tea, a middle-aged woman came in with her elderly mother who had babysat my kids when they were quite small. Little Princess barely remembered her. She looks quite frail, but it was a pleasure to see her.

We passed Patsy on the other side of the street as we were walking into town, and then ran into her coming the other way, so we stopped and had a chat. In the pharmacy I met a biology professor of my acquaintance and her wee bairn, and on our way to lunch we bumped into Ed coming out of the Greek restaurant with a take-out order. As we started our trek uphill, Little Princess started experiencing severe sandal problems, so she began walking barefoot, but Hubby came along on his way back from a tennis game, so we got a lift the rest of the way. That sort of put a damper on the amélanchier gathering we had been planning, but it saved Little Princess’ feet.

The laundry from yesterday is mostly dry; I had to rehang a few items. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I think everything is going to be all right.
