Dinner with Dave and Sylvie

Such a thunderstorm tonight! It stopped just in time for the fireworks, as if there werent already enough of those in the form of jagged slashes across the night sky. Unfortunately I am not watching those fireworks, only hearing them from my attic window as I type these words.

We had a truly delightful visit with our dear friends Dave and Sylvie. Dinner was absolutely delicious, even Buddy Boy seemed to enjoy it. We started out with chilled blueberry soup, garnished with generous dollops of Mediterranean yogourt (you know, the 10% m.f. stuff) which was really good. This was followed by Persian kidney beans (recipe courtesy Mllie Katzens Vegetable Heaven) and rice pilaf (my own concoction), and a yummy salad with sliced avocado at the perfect ripeness. Dessert was French vanilla ice cream with blueberry syrup. Good wine was drunk, scintillating conversation was engaged in, and a very pleasant time was had by all.

And having said all that, Im outta here.
