Paradise for sleet and ice

We have just arrived home after a whole day of travelling. We left Trinidad very early this morning, stopping briefly in Caracas, Venezuela. There was a mad scramble in Toronto to go through customs and immigration, get our luggage and get on our plane to Montreal, which proceeded to sit on the tarmac for 45 minutes. The weather in Montreal was horrendous: the ground was snow covered and we drove out of the city through a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Luckily the weather improved when we got to the south side of the St. Lawrence, but Hubby was extremely tired, and the last half-hour or so was rather scary.

Such a contrast! The beach at Maracas was so beautiful, the sand fine, the water warm, the shark and bake tasty, and the company as warm as the weather. Yesterday we went for an outing at the Arboretum in Chaguaramas, where Hubby and I saw three monkeys making their way through the tops of the bamboo on our walk in the woods. It is so hard to believe that just this morning we were in a tropical paradise, and a scant 12 hours later we were looking at white shit on the ground.

There is of course more to tell, but I am exhausted and too tired to tell it properly. Im off to NYC on Wednesday morning and I have a full day at the university tomorrow, plus I have to get caught up on everyones diaries. Tonight, however, I am off to bed.
