Goose!

While teaching my baritone this afternoon, the studio window open just enough to allow in some cool, fresh air, we heard the honking of geese and ran to look out. The sky was full of Canada geese, every single one honking loudly, flying mostly in a north-easterly direction (wrong way, you stupid birds!), some in V’s, many just clumped together, others flailing away singly. The wind was fierce, and it looked like they were facing in one direction but being blown in another. It took several minutes for the sky to clear and for the honking to pass beyond earshot, before we could resume our lesson.
