Heat and jazz

Will wonders never cease? We had an absolutely gorgeous, rain-free day today. The roofers are gone, having taken all their scaffolding with them. They cleaned up their mess and our house looks great. There are no more curling shingles just waiting to blow off in a high wind. We’ll be getting our bill soon enough. That won’t be fun.

But considering there was no rain and no scaffolding, I was able to hang out a line of laundry. Buddy Boy spent the morning working for his friend’s grandmother, weeding her onion patch and mowing her lawn. He drove himself there and back (she lives on a dirt road in the country) with his father as copilot on the trip out and me as the accompanying licensed driver on the trip back. It necessitated highway driving, and I’m pleased to say that he’s getting the hang of it quite well.

Tonight Hubby’s jazz trio played at a local bar where they tape a radio show every Tuesday evening. Buddy Boy was my date and his friend (the one with the grandmother) came with his girlfriend. We were eventually joined by the luthier who made Hubby’s guitar and his girlfriend, Kevin O’s girlfriend, and one of Hubby’s tennis buddies and his girlfriend. I was having fun until the sun went down and the insects started biting.

Today’s perfect weather was almost too much to ask for. My widget predicts thunder showers again tomorrow. I knew it couldn’t last.
