Party, pregnancy and pizza

I am so sleepy that I might just fall face forward into the keyboard while Im typing this, except that the keyboard is at hip height, with would make it rather difficult for me to accomplish that without have an elastic waist, which I dont. Anyway, we got back a little while ago from Montreal where we attended the cinq sept in honour of our friend Ms upcoming 60th birthday.

To begin, T & M were in Montreal on holiday, visiting with their son and daughter (and her conjoint) who is PREGNANT (so, this is what you were hinting at, Jenn!) with their first grandchild. They are both so excited about becoming grandparents, its wonderful. Their friend in St. Johns who works for the DeIta Hotel chain booked them into a nice room at the DeIta on Boulevard President-Kennedy (yes, they have one of those in Montreal), but arranged for the party that they would be in the Maestro Suite, which is this incredible two-storey set of rooms consisting of a bedroom and sitting room and bath on one level, and upstairs a board room, dining area, sitting area and bar (and a bathroom too). It was gorgeous. When I went to use the bathroom en suite to the bedroom, I noticed that the management had turned down the bed and put sweets on the pillows for them. How nice.

Anyway, we arrived at the hotel at around 4:15 and parked underground, leaving our coats in the car, and met C in the lobby, who took us up to the suite, greeting us by saying, Sorry about looking pregnant, but I am pregnant. Her dad was there, and we hung out with him for a while until the next guests arrived. It started to get pretty full as friends and relatives crowded into the room: old neighbours, Ms brothers and their wives and kids, Montreal-based musicians, the parents of Cs boyfriend, and several people I never actually got introduced to. When M arrived with her son, with whom she had been shopping for paper plates, she was really surprised.

Wine and nibblies were served and we got to mingle with people we hadnt seen in ages. It was very nice. I noticed how A (who must be close to 30 now) is starting to resemble his dad. He and his sister were just little kids when we moved to Lville, its so hard to think that shes going to be a mom soon. Well, everyone made the same comments on our two, remembering them as wee ones not so very long ago.

Afterwards we found a fantastic pizza place on Dominion Square where we had supper, and then drove home, making it ahead of the freezing rain that was predicted on the weather band. I think I hear the beginning of it tapping on the skylights. Better now when we are safe at home than when we were on our way.
