On Strike!

Supper last night was great. Truly great. The dal soup (made with split peas that I thought could have been less al dente), the spinach ricotta pie (with homemade ricotta), the pilaf (brown basmati rice with a sautée of onion, garlic, pumpkin seeds, craisins, coriander, cumin and cardamom), the salad (ruby lettuce with grapefruit sections, buttery-ripe avocado slices and grapefruit vinaigrette) and, last but not least, heavenly chocolate mousse flavoured with orange liqueur, were all to die for. The pie was a pièce de résistance, creamy and delicious. Little Princess’ BF brought over a bottle of “organic” red wine from Italy (he had told Bill at the SAQ that he wanted something suitable for vegetarians) which was very fruity, displaying overtones of cherry and berries and a soupçon of butterflies. Okay, I made that last bit up. It’s a good thing we don’t eat like that all the time.

No one could decide on an after-supper activity, so we ended up just sitting around the living room, passing the guitar back and forth, until it was time for Hubby to take the BF home (he had to work early today). We retired soon after that. I’d even forgotten to turn off the computer and the attic lights, thinking I would come upstairs and update my diary, but then falling asleep. I have declared a moratorium on cooking for the next while.
