Blue skies at evening...
8:24 a.m.
The boys deliberated long and hard before finally deciding to set up their gear outside on the terasse. While they were doing that, I went for a little walk along the gorge and took some pictures.
The gorge itself:
A purty rainbow in the mist:
The river above the hydroelectric dam:
Looking down at the falls:
The painting on the wall of the power station:
Earlier in the day, Little Princess and I had walked into town carrying umbrellas, which we ended up needing. The sky had looked like this when we were crossing the river:
It’s been one of those summers so far where the weather has been totally bipolar, raining one minute, sunny the next. As we sat drinking our beer and eating our mango quesadillas, the rain came again. It didn’t last long and we were protected somewhat by the large parasols over the tables, and we were rewarded for our patience by a beautiful evening. The clouds scudded away leaving perfectly clear skies, which worked out well for the observatory, except that the motor on the telescope wasn’t working, but that’s Little Princess’ story.
Her friends Ed and Lisa came to join us at our table but left briefly to chat with some other of their friends on another part of the terasse. I jokingly told them to bring me back presents, and they actually did. Ed provided me with an “Admit One” ticket from a play he and my daughter went to recently, Tom gave me a French euro he happened to have deep in his pocket left over from his recent trip overseas, and Daphne rooted around in her purse and came up with a postage stamp, a jasmine-scented green tea bag and a small Chinese coin with a hole in the centre of it. When I was showing these items to Little Princess this morning at breakfast, Hubby said, “Now there’s something you should be putting in your diary!”
My brother arrives from Israel today for a week. My updates may be very spotty for the next little while.
