It was announced, as we joked about the extra-virgin olive oil as I made the salad dressing for supper, that Buddy Boy, my 17-year-old son, is no longer a virgin, a fact that I had been heretofore ignorant of but which my daughter was in on. My husband refrained from comment. So, in order to make the most of the occasion, the three adults all raised a glass of rather delicious Argentinian wine, a 2006 shiraz-malbec blend with the label fuZi0n, and toasted Buddy Boy on his attaining manhood, even though it happened quite a while ago. That’s it, I guess: the end of an era.
