The ladies lunch

Today the three ladies finally had their lunch. It was lovely. We met at Le Cartier, a bistro overlooking Jacques-Cartier Park, located on rue Jacques-Cartier (where else?), serving a California-inspired menu with freshly made pastas and interesting salads and dressings. My two friends both ordered a quiche stuffed full of delicious vegetables (unfortunately it also had mushrooms, which is why I didnt order that one) served with a colourful array of salads. I had the penne la grecque: pasta with olives, artichoke hearts, feta cheese and a delicious tomato sauce served with two pieces of pannini bread toasted and slathered with olive oil. It was heavenly, and very filling. I couldnt finish it.

We exchanged our gifts, a little late for xmas. Unfortunately Vlad hadnt thought about it at all, and was giftless. She was quite embarassed, too. I gave them their Twinings Christmas Tea and teaball, and a copy of Black Cat Tales V, and the Duchess gave us lovely pot pouri sachets. We told Vlad not to fret; she had already given us our annual paperwhite bulbs, plus an added bonus of crocus bulbs. Everything works out. The conversation was scintillating, the only actual gossip being about the firing of the choral director from the local choir and the fuss he made, ending up in his own public humiliation. He could have resigned in dignity instead of being told by a show of hands at a general meeting that the majority of members wanted to replace him. Some people. The rest of the conversation was about books, music, films. Were very civilized ladies, you know.
