My father was a school teacher, and he had this story that he liked to tell. The teacher had read to the class the New Testament story where Jesus changes the water into wine at the marriage at Cana, and it was now the students turn to write a composition describing the event in their own words. Paper and pencils were handed out, and the children started scribbling furiously, except for one boy who sat without writing and stared dreamily off into space. For the entire hour this boy just gazed into the middle distance. Just as the bell was about to ring and the teacher cried out, Pencils down!, the boy picked his up and quickly dashed something off on his paper. Of course the teacher was quite interested in what this student had written, but forced herself to wait until the children had left the room and it was once again quiet. She turned to the boys paper, and written at the top of the page were the following words: The waters blushed to meet their lord.
